Whereas the educational ethos in India has deep roots, much of educational systems have grown in response to our socio economic reality which has been one of impoverishment. We have also struggled with educational models suited to the needs of first generation learners who are primarily job seekers. Our children are brilliant but because of their family backgrounds, socialization and education pedagogy, often loose out on confidence and personality.

The developed countries are often dealing with the more endowed children and are able to develop them into questioning, confident & mature adults, capable of taking risks and decisions. Clearly they succeed in life because of their holistic approach to education.

With the Indian economy growing at a rapid pace the demand for holistic education has increased many-folds and the focus of education for this set of people needs to shift from knowledge and hard work to overall development and growth.

The NCLB ‘No Child Left Behind’ programme of U.S.A. and ECM ‘Every Child Matters’ programme of U.K. have been fairly successful as they focused their curricula and pedagogy on making learning enjoyable. It is in this backdrop that this workshop is designed with practitioner faculty from the United Kingdom.

This workshop is the outcome of the training program conducted by EduExcellence and Aspire Trust in Liverpool, U.K., where nearly 50 Principals participated and visited a large number of U.K. schools. This is an attempt to share the distilled findings of the training program ‘All our Futures’ conducted in June 2010 at Liverpool.
